Sarah, a native Washingtonian, is a Pony Club graduate “A” and USEA Level II certified instructor. She was also very active as an area VII young rider having won the CCI* long format Fritz cup in '91 and team silver medal winner (12th of 52 individually) of the CCI** long format North American Young Rider Championships at Bromont, Quebec in '92.
The following year in '93, Sarah and Stone's Throw added a 2nd and 4th place finish at the advanced level. She credits much of her competition success to local trainers such as Todd Trewin (US Olympic Event rider), Jean Moyer (successful national eventing/dressage coach), Judy Thocher (accomplished dressage instructor/rider), and John Turner (nationally recognized Hunter/Jumper instructor).
Sarah then traveled to the east coast to train for a few years with ICP faculty member Phyllis Dawson and Major Jeremy Beale. After intensive training and competing, she returned to Washington to finish her bachelor’s degree in Arts and Sciences from the UW and began “Stone’s Throw Farm.” Sarah teaches both adults and children in eventing and dressage. She currently spends many hours starting quality young horses as her personal competition mounts and for resale.
