2017 kicked off the start of Indoor Eventing at the Oregon Horse Center! The main course (Novice through Preliminary level) utilizes both the large Silverado arena and the Logan area. A separate beginner level course (Intro through Beginner Novice level) is also assembled in the Emerald arena. Both courses are a unique mixture of cross country and show jumping obsticles. Some of the cross country features include a water jump, bank complex, ditch, and solid obstacles such as tables and roll tops. Courses closely follow the specs and standards set by the US Eventing rules and guidelines.
Course designer, Annie Fike has brilliantly mapped out the arenas and courses using a computer program called Illustrator. Using the program, she measures exact distances, jump placement, and the ability to sufficiently drag the arenas for optimal footing.
OHC has been the home of a unique event called Mt. Trail for 18 years, which builds very elaborate safe indoor trail courses/ obstacles that includes a 20 foot high bridge, ditch gullies, water fall features, water crossings, banks and small hill/ log obstacles. An already experienced crew from OHC meticulously places each XC jump and semi-permanent XC feature for the Indoor Eventing course.
Mid Spring, OHC moves many of their portable X-C jumps back out on to the 220 acre field for schooling. This schooling course consists of several banks, ditch and introductory water crossing. The course is continually being expanded upon and preliminary designs for a larger water complex is underway! A perimeter hacking path and galloping track are also in the works! OHC currently hosts an unrecognized 1-Day Events and Pony Club Rallies..
