About Sarah Lorenz

Sarah has been producing young horses and operating her business Stone’s Throw Farm for the last 25 years. After competing through the Advanced level, she now focusses on assisting other riders to achieve their dreams and giving young prospects a solid foundation. Sarah is currently competing several well bred youngsters that she enjoys showing the ropes!

About 10 years ago, Sarah began breeding Holsteiner and Oldenburg horses for eventing & dressage. A majority of the young horses that Sarah has produced were raised and broke herself. Most were trained through the beginning levels of eventing & dressage before being sold and enjoyed by their amateur riders.

In the fall of 2018, Sarah was certified with the US Eventing Association’s Instructor Certification Program as both a Young Event Horse Rider and Young Event Horse Instructor. She is also a certified Level II USEA ICP instructor and gives back to the Area VII Young Rider program as one of the team selectors. As a graduate “A” Pony Club rating, she continues to work with the local pony club and the Oregon Region.

In October of 2016, Sarah relocated her business Stone’s Throw Farm from the Seattle, WA area to Eugene, OR. Sarah Is grateful to have landed at Make Your Mark Stables, owned by Kathryn Daniel, as it provided a spring board to restart Stone’s Throw Farm in this new area. Sarah is also thankful for the many positive, supportive friends and clients in Eugene that helped to make this move a success!

As Stone’s Throw Farm began to thrive, the move to the Oregon Horse Center was necessary to expand. With greater amounts of stalls and availability, more horses / riders are able to be included into the program. A life long dream of Sarah’s has been to start a riding school based on Pony Club principles. Over the years she has kept extra tack and equipment with the idea that one day the opportunity would present itself to start a program. This spring of 2019, Eugene Riding Academy (ERA) will be launched! Sarah looks forward to an exciting future with OHC producing young horses, helping current clients reach their riding goals, and providing an opportunity for the Eugene community a place to start riding!
